Job Summary
The Compliance Officer oversees the Corporate Compliance & Privacy Program by ensuring adherence to healthcare regulations, managing audits and investigations, developing policies, overseeing HIPAA compliance, supervising contract and credentialing staff, and collaborating with leadership to mitigate risks and maintain regulatory standards within the home care agency.
The Compliance Officer manages the Corporate Compliance & Privacy Program. The Compliance Officer is responsible for overseeing the, coordinating with company management (including the board) to identify potential risks and implement policies and procedures that uphold laws and reflect current regulations. The Compliance Officer monitors, conducts audits to identify potential weaknesses and noncompliant situations, communicates with management and employees ensuring that they are aware of what they need to do to comply with internal and external laws, and ensures that training occurs for both new and existing employees on compliance and privacy policies and practices. The Compliance Officer manages the contract and credentialing staff. The Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), include overseeing patient privacy policies, investigating privacy complaints and updating privacy policies in accordance with current laws. Our client’s team members represent the organization and its services in a competent, professional and responsive manner while maintaining standards of high-quality patient care and customer service in accordance with all state, local and federal requirements, rules and regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Develops, initiates, maintains, and revises policies and procedures for the general operation of the Compliance Program and its related activities to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct. Reviews all company policies and confirms policy and procedures comply with all company accreditation standards. Reviews all company contracts to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards, as well as accuracy and completeness in contract language. Collaborates with company leadership to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution. Leads Compliance Committee meeting quarterly. Ensures that the Compliance Program is followed and provides compliance education and support for the organization. Evaluates whether the company's policies and procedures are followed and recommends education and support for the organization. Reviews and evaluates compliance issues and concerns. Manages the Compliance hotline and Compliance confidential email site. Leads compliance investigations and works in conjunction with other departments as needed. Maintains professional, supportive, and responsive interpersonal communication. Manages assigned staff, completes performance evaluations, provide direction and guidance as related to job performance. Support regional office in preparation for accreditation bodies. Oversees the compliance audit process and results. Completes and leads completion of the clinical review of documentation for claims against our client Maintain ongoing relationships with regulatory attorneys. Maintains ongoing relationships with insurance companies to limit liability. Manages company liability claims Investigates and manages all HIPAA violations and recommends support for the organization Performs other duties as assigned
Role Qualifications
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED RN License is required 5 years of experience in a healthcare leadership role Clear background screening Working knowledge of home care regulatory and federal requirements Proven customer service skills, sound independent judgment, initiative and solid organization and time management skills required Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite Ability to travel 50% to office locations throughout designated area
PREFERRED Pediatric home care experience Compliance certification WORKING CONDITIONS/EQUIPMENT USE Work is performed indoors in a typical office environment - not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. Valid driver license with proof of insurance Must be able to lift up to fifteen (15) pounds Frequent use of office machines to include telephone, computer, and printer 50% travel required
