Job Title: Entry-Level Civil Engineer
Location: Dubuque, Iowa
Compensation: $60,000 - $70,000 per year
Position Overview: Our client, a respected firm in Dubuque, Iowa, is seeking a motivated Entry-Level Civil Engineer to join their team. This position involves preparing design plans for land development projects, including subdivisions (residential, commercial, industrial) and individual sites. Working under the direct supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer, the ideal candidate will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience and work towards becoming a licensed Professional Engineer within four years.
The successful candidate will be organized, eager to learn, and an effective communicator via email and phone calls.
Key Responsibilities and Duties: Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to create plans, details, and other project documentation depicting existing and proposed site conditions. Develop layouts for proposed developments with guidance from senior staff. Model hydrologic and hydraulic conditions for existing and planned project sites. Review project sites to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local permitting requirements. Prepare draft versions of stormwater management reports, site inspection reports, and various permit applications. Assist with fieldwork as needed, including serving as a second or third member of survey crews. Conduct occasional construction observation for designed projects. Perform field percolation testing and septic system design.
Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (EIT). Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft 365 (Office suite).
