Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Processor to join our team. The Payroll Processor will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for our clients. This position offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic team in a fast-paced and supportive environment, providing exceptional service to small and mid-sized businesses in Asheville and the surrounding area.
Key Responsibilities
Process weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payroll for multiple clients in a timely and accurate manner. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax filings, wage garnishments, and other deductions. Maintain accurate records of employee hours, salary rates, bonuses, commissions, and other compensation information. Review and verify payroll data, including timesheets, overtime, and paid time off (PTO). Prepare and process payroll tax filings, including 941, state withholding, and unemployment taxes. Respond to client inquiries regarding payroll matters, including discrepancies, deductions, and reporting. Assist with year-end payroll processes, including the preparation of W-2s and other year-end reports. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth integration of payroll and accounting functions. Stay updated on changes to payroll laws, tax regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance. Perform other payroll-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
2 years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a professional services or accounting firm environment. Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations. Proficiency in payroll software (experience with ADP, QuickBooks, or similar systems preferred). Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently. A positive, customer-service oriented attitude.
Education And Certifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred. Payroll certification (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional, CPP) is a plus but not required.
