Creative Aging Memphis enriches older adults’ lives through music and the arts. Since 2003, our three major programs have connected talented musicians, actors, and professional teaching artists with seniors living in every corner of Memphis, Shelby County, and counties beyond, bringing participants the joys of creativity, community, and connection; inspiring confidence; and combatting isolation. Meaningful teaching and performance fees paid to over 125 contract artists and musicians help drive the local arts economy. Creative Aging is Memphis and Shelby County's only organization singularly focused on delivering place-based arts experiences to older adults. Creative Aging has grown significantly in recent years. In light of the growing senior population and high demand for all of its programs, ongoing growth is expected.

Programs

Currently offered in over 100 unique locations where seniors live and gather, Creative Aging's musical performances and hands-on arts workshops reach racially and socio-economically diverse audiences, enhancing participants' cognitive vitality, reducing isolation, and making access to the arts a reality.

Through its Concert Series, Creative Aging presents financially and logistically accessible, day-time performances at Theatre Memphis and the Kroc Center. These performances include professional musical, dance and theatrical performances and draw large audiences. Participants live in 30 zip code areas.

Creative Aging's Senior Studio program offers lifelong learning courses for seniors. These multi-session, sequential-learning classes are taught by teaching artists at community venues, including libraries, museums, and senior centers. A best practice, Studio Courses give participants opportunities to learn, explore their creativity and build community with fellow participants.

Role

Creative Aging is searching for an Executive Director with the demonstrated ability to lead a dynamic, high-functioning team while engaging artists, funders, and community partners to continue expanding the organization and its impact in older adults’ lives. The Executive Director is responsible for leading the organization in a way that supports and guides its vision, mission, long-term plan, and day-to-day operations. This individual must possess a high level of business and management skill and be effective at generating financial support. Key responsibilities include strategy development and execution, fundraising, grant strategy and oversight, marketing and communications, operations and finance, programs and events, and staff leadership and talent development. The Executive Director reports to Creative Aging’s Board of Directors.

Salary

Salary range is $80,000-$90,000 annually. Starting salary contingent upon related experience, education, and related certifications.

Skills and competencies

· Demonstrated leadership and management skills

· Solid financial management experience

· Strong fundraising skills

· Enthusiastic, flexible, organized, collaborative communicator

· Grant experience, including sourcing, writing, reporting, execution planning, managing

· Ability to work from home and lead a virtual team (all team members spend a significant amount of time spent in the field).

· Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or other advanced degree preferred

· 5 years of leadership, management or supervisory experience with financial management/budgetary responsibility required

· 5 years of nonprofit management experience preferred

· Current resident of greater Memphis/Shelby County preferred

· Prior board experience beneficial
