Creative Alternatives Foster Family Agency has offered over 40 years of quality care to children. Our goal is to provide committed homes wherein children are embraced with hope, love, security, and permanence in order to create thriving children and young adults whom are capable of developing healthy relationships, achieving permanency through reunification with biological family members, guardianship or adoption with an identified resource parent, or emancipation and independent living in the community.

Creative Alternatives, Inc. is hiring an ISFC (Intensive Services Foster Care) Support Counselor to work with our emotionally disturbed/foster care children.

This position is full-time, 30-40 hours weekly. Saturday and Sunday availability required, with additional days during the week.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Service, Education or related field and a minimum of six months experience working with emotionally disturbed/foster care children.
  • Or an AA Degree with a minimum of one year experience working with emotionally disturbed/foster care children.
  • Valid California driver's license.
  • Good driving record; Department of Motor Vehicles printout required.
  • Meet all state licensing and insurance requirements.
  • Current first aid and CPR certification.
  • Successful completion of LIC 503 Health Screening Report, including a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds.

Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to produce clearance and concise documentation.
  • Must develop a strong understanding of Community Care Licensing regulations.
  • Must establish and maintain a professional rapport with outside agencies.
  • Able to provide constructive solutions to business related issues.
  • Able to achieve and maintain growth and successful functioning of a program.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the daily function of the ISFC program, ensure proper documentation is maintained, enforce program guidelines and support the social worker's agenda and appointments.
  • Maintain records, files and documentation pertinent to the ISFC program.
  • Set limits and consequences appropriate to the children and promote social development.
  • Maintain rules, schedules and routines for the children.
  • Provide a positive role model.
  • Transport clients in company and personal vehicles.
  • Advise FFA Director and Supervising Social Worker of all matters pertaining to the ISFC program.
  • Participate in crisis intervention as necessary.
  • Facilitate children's school programs as appropriate.
  • Protect the rights and dignity of each child.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
