What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinician position at Creative Alternatives?
Knowledge of:
The needs of children served in a childrens residential setting.
DSM and ICD Codes and Medi-Cal documentation and procedures.
BBS regulations, requirements and procedures.
Ability to:
Provide clinically sound treatment services based on client needs and treatment plans.
Engage and develop a rapport with children who have diverse backgrounds.
Demonstrate understanding of diagnostic evaluation methods, assessments and scales.
Respond to a range of client needs using differential diagnoses and treatment approaches, primarily related to evidence-based practices.
Lead children and adolescent therapeutic groups: Anger Management, Drug and Alcohol, Social Skills, LGBTQ and/or Sexual Abuse.
Provide crisis intervention, suicide assessment, conflict resolution and interpersonal communication.
Maintain and accurately complete clinical records in timely compliance with agency and Medi-Cal policies and procedures.
Work collaboratively with other community agencies on behalf of clients and/or the agency.
Demonstrate understanding of sound ethical practice in conjunction with the established and defined ethics of ones training and discipline.
Effectively organize time and responsibilities.
Essential Function and Responsibilities:
Provide a variety of specialty mental health services including but not limited to assessments, treatment plans, individual, group and family therapy.
Complete all documentation in a in a timely manner as established by Creative Alternatives.
Maintain Progress notes in established electronic health record for each client in a timely manner.
Maintain and accurately complete clinical records in compliance with agency and Medi-Cal policies and procedures.
Document mental health treatment services and reports in a timely manner.
Develop effective discharge plan for clients and coordinate plan with team members.
Demonstrate multicultural skills knowledge and experience, including the influence of cultural issues and providing services with appropriate cultural context.
Advise clients of available community resources and act as a liaison and/or advocate for clients/families to use the resources effectively.
Participate in liaison work with other agencies as required.
Participate in regularly scheduled clinical supervision when appropriate.
Participate in staff and CFT meetings as requested.
Provide trainings, lectures or participate in discussion on aspects of client care and the use of psychotherapeutic methods to STRTP staff.
Provide program-wide on-call supports on a rotating schedule for clients in crisis.
Work evenings and occasional Saturdays.
Appropriate documentation for Medi-Cal billing.
Other duties that may be necessary.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to bend at the waist, kneel, crouch, climb and balance.
Must be able to read, write, and visually see clients.
Must be able to hear with or without the use of hearing aid(s) sufficient to hear conversations with others, understandable voice, and speech patterns.
Must have manual dexterity and coordination sufficient to operate office equipment.
Must be able to sit, stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
Must have use of hands to handle and/or feel; reach with hands and arms.
Must lift, push, pull or carry up to 25 lbs.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- Masters degree in counseling, social work, or related field recognized by Board of Behavioral Science (BBS)
- Licensed as LCSW, MFT, LPCC OR
- Registered with BBS as ACSW, AMFT, APCC
- Two years of post-masters supervised clinical experience in multidisciplinary mental health setting (one year of supervised clinical work in an organized graduate internship program may be substituted for each year of full-time experience)
Must be 21 years of age
Meet all state licensing and insurance requirements
Must pass a DOJ, FBI, and Child Abuse index clearance
Valid California driver's license
Good driving record: Department of Motor Vehicles printout required
Must pass LIC 503 Health Screening Report and TB clearance
