Job Title: Afterschool and Summer Camp Director
Job Type: Full-Time/Year Round
Location: Greenville, NC
Salary: $31,000-$65,000 (salary dependent on performance)
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic, creative, and highly organized Afterschool and Summer Camp Director to lead and oversee our afterschool and summer camp programs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing engaging lesson plans, supervising and training staff, managing program budgets, handling client accounts, and creating content for social media. Additionally, the candidate must have a clean driving record and be able to train others to safely operate 15-passenger vans for student transportation.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Development & Execution:
- Develop, write, and execute detailed, engaging lesson plans tailored to students of various age groups.
- Ensure all programming is educational, engaging, and aligns with organizational goals.
- Deliver high-energy, interactive lessons and activities.
- Incorporate creativity and innovation into curriculum planning.
Staff Supervision & Training:
- Hire, train, and mentor afterschool and summer camp staff, including teachers and support personnel.
- Guide teachers in lesson planning and classroom management techniques.
- Conduct ongoing staff evaluations and professional development sessions.
Classroom & Student Supervision:
- Monitor classrooms and activity spaces to ensure a safe, structured, and fun learning environment.
- Implement and enforce policies and procedures to maintain order and engagement.
- Address behavioral concerns in a positive and effective manner.
- Maintain and clean and organized environment and oversee staff cleaning schedules.
Transportation Management:
- Ensure all transportation procedures adhere to safety regulations.
- Train staff to safely operate 15-passenger vans and oversee student transportation logistics.
- Maintain compliance with all driving safety protocols.
Administrative & Financial Responsibilities:
- Handle client accounts, including enrollment, billing, and customer service inquiries.
- Work within a set budget to purchase supplies and manage program expenses.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and curriculum execution.
Marketing & Social Media:
- Develop and manage engaging content for social media platforms to promote programs.
- Capture and share program highlights, student achievements, and staff features.
- Communicate effectively with parents, stakeholders, and the community through digital channels.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, Recreation, Art Education, Theatre Education, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in youth programming, afterschool, or camp management.
- Strong ability to write, organize, and implement detailed lesson plans.
- Proven experience in training and mentoring staff.
- Clean driving record and ability to train others to drive a 15-passenger van.
- Budgeting experience and ability to manage program finances effectively. Must have experience in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Power Point.
- Proficiency in social media marketing and content creation. IG, FB, TT, Linkedin
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends as needed.
- Ability to work 40 - 55 hours per week between the hours of 7:00 am - 6:30 pm Monday - Friday with occasional events on Friday evening 6-10 pm and Saturdays 6-10 pm
- Ability to be on feet many hours per day
Preferred Skills:
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience working with diverse student populations.
- Familiarity with educational and recreational program planning.
