Our innovative consumer brand client is looking for a Character Technical Artist to join their team!
This is a hybrid role in Sunnyvale, CA for 2 months with the potential to extend to part time (Initially 40hrs per week for 2 months & later 20hrs per week. Working hours might change to 20hrs or more later depending upon the workload) . Candidates need to be onsite 3 days per week.

As a Character Tech Artist in the AIML Simulation group, you will have an opportunity to be part of an innovation-focused organization that is developing simulations and generating synthetic data. Responsibilities
- Create detailed character models in a realistic style, including meshes, materials, blend shapes.
- Work with pipeline and asset generation tools to generate and vary character models. Collaborate on improving the tools.
- Assist in bringing new rendering techniques and materials generation techniques into our pipeline
- At least 2 years of experience working as a Character Modeler in animation, VFX and/or video games
- Skilled at modern human character modeling: Digital sculpting, modeling, simulating, and command of mesh topology.
- Understanding of shading, lighting, structure, texturing and materials.
- Deep knowledge of anatomy-based character rigging, deformation, motion, and etc.
- Experienced Maya user
- Experience with Maya, Houdini, or other DCCs programming APIs
- Intermediate to high level Python for data creation and usage in formats like JSON
- Expertise in using/extending/designing digital asset pipelines that can handle large-scale character generation and customization such as for feature films and games.
- Experience with hair/fur systems (e.g., XGen, Houdini Groom)
- Familiarity with USD format and tools
- C programming experience
