Our client is seeking a Planning Director for maternity leave coverage. This role will support the planning and execution of wholesale retail operations, requiring strong experience in wholesale planning-particularly with Sephora or Ulta.

Role Overview

Key Responsibilities
- Sales & Forecasting:
- Develop and manage retail and net sales plans.
- Understand retailer open-to-buy processes and how they relate to sales (including PO management & EDI orders).
- Forecast new launches and core products, owning reporting and supporting field teams with data needs.
- Define and plan retail/net sales goals by retailer (weekly, monthly, seasonal).
- Develop retail sales plans by product type and category.
- Inventory & Operations:
- Monitor appropriate stock levels and manage returns.
- Coordinate planning and product needs for corporate retailer events.
- Track orders vs. allocations for new product launches.
- Partner with Operations on shipment tracking and on-time delivery.
- Monitor replenishment orders to manage inventory on discontinuations and limited-life SKUs.
- Balance inventory needs between owned and wholesale channels.
- Data & Reporting:
- Develop reports and metrics to improve business insights.
- Manage weekly product performance recaps to monitor trends and identify opportunities or risks.
- Support sales order fulfillment by reviewing new orders for discrepancies and ensuring smooth processing with the 3PL.
- Track competitive distribution changes and launches, including top door growth and comparable store growth performance.
- Retail & Marketing Support:
- Manage and support retailers' side-by-side calendars.
- Assist with planning and execution of marketing, sampling, training, and event orders.
- Provide field teams with local event needs, testers, and gratis reports.
- Experience:
- 5 years in sales, category management, or business analytics.
- Wholesale planning experience required-Sephora or Ulta background preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong proficiency in Excel & PowerPoint.
- Experience with Netsuite & Looker preferred.
- Soft Skills:
- Exceptional communication (written & verbal).
- Strong organizational & analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Problem-solving attitude with proactive follow-up skills.
