What are the responsibilities and job description for the Respite Care Provider (behavioral) position at Creative Cultivators?
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and patient individual to provide respite care for a child with autism and behavioral support needs. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience or interest in supporting children with special needs in a one-on-one setting.
The client is fun and excellent at sports. The ideal candidate has a behavioral background and is interested in sports and being active outside as these are things that help the client stay regulated.
Position Details:
- Role: Respite Provider
- Hours: up to 25 hours per week, some weekends may be requested
- Location: San Jose, CA
Responsibilities:
- Provide safe, engaging, and nurturing care in the child’s home or community setting.
- Work closely with the child’s ABA therapist to learn and implement skills, strategies, and techniques to best support the child’s developmental and behavioral goals.
- Assist with daily activities, including mealtime, personal care, and structured play.
- Implement calming strategies and positive behavioral supports as needed.
- Foster a supportive and encouraging environment tailored to the child’s unique needs.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians about the child’s activities and progress.
Qualifications:
- Background in behavioral management, ABA, BCBA, or RBT, or proven transferable skills.
- Previous experience working with children with autism and/or aggressive impulses.
- Understanding of or willingness to learn about autism spectrum disorder and behavioral management strategies.
- Patience, empathy, and strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to follow specific care plans and adapt to the child’s needs.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
