Summary of Position:
In this role, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and successful completion of various Creative Energies service projects. Your work will focus on grid-tied roof-mounted and ground-mounted solar power systems, energy storage solutions, monitoring systems, string inverters, MLPE, and a range of vintage equipment. A significant part of your responsibilities will involve diagnosing and resolving system issues, performing repairs, and maintaining detailed service records to ensure optimal system performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Service Project Installation & Field Work – Perform installations, consultations, and site visits for solar power and energy storage systems. Ensure proper system functionality through troubleshooting and repairs.
- Project Coordination – Work closely with owners, subcontractors, and team members to plan and execute service projects efficiently.
- Warranty & Customer Support – Handle warranty claims by documenting issues, communicating with manufacturers, and providing technical support to customers.
- Travel & Site Work – Visit local and remote project sites, sometimes in rugged terrain with limited cell reception, to complete installations and service calls.
- Inventory & Equipment Management – Maintain service tools, equipment, and vehicle to ensure readiness for projects. Track and manage office-based inventory.
- Supervision & Team Support – Lead and guide electricians and installers as needed on a per-project basis to ensure high-quality workmanship.
- System Monitoring & Inspections – Program and track system performance using monitoring platforms, conduct post-installation inspections, and ensure compliance.
- Administrative & Reporting Tasks – Manage service reports, work tickets, and project documentation. Oversee manufacturer RMA processes and warranty paperwork.
- Technical Support – Provide expert assistance to field crews and customers via phone, email, and remote monitoring tools.
- Training & Development – Continuously improve technical skills through industry courses, certifications, and best practice research.
Qualifications
- Professional Experience – At least 1 year of experience in solar PV installation, troubleshooting, or system design.
- Technical Knowledge – Strong understanding of electrical theory, solar equipment function, and installation best practices.
- PV System Expertise – Hands-on experience with PV equipment installation, diagnostics, and repair.
- Solar Training – Completion of PV101 or an equivalent introductory solar course.
- Certification – Minimum NABCEP Photovoltaic Associate credential.
- Electrical Background – Electrical licensure or training preferred.
- Driver’s License – Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Warranty Knowledge – Familiarity with solar equipment warranties is a plus.
Schedule:
· 10-hour shifts (May - October); Adjustments to hours may be made to accommodate the shoulder season (November - April)
· 4 days a week (M-TH, unless otherwise stated)
· Overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 hours in a one-week period. Overtime shall be compensated at time and a half.
Travel:
· Day-trips throughout the Salt Lake City area with occasional work beyond the metro area.
· Overnight travel on occasions, as needed. You will be notified 2 weeks prior to the departure date of any overnight travel.

Reports to/Supervises:
The Service Technician will report to the Service Team Lead. This position will coordinate with local project managers and service leaders.
