Accountant

Location: Southfield, MI

Salary: $45,000 - $55,000

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM or 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (flexible start times as early as 7:00 AM available)

Work Arrangement: Fully onsite

About The Organization

This faith-based nonprofit organization provides youth programming and social services to the community. Employees have the opportunity to attend chapel services on Tuesdays and church services on Sundays, but participation is not required. The workplace environment is supportive and mission-driven, with a business casual dress code.

Key Responsibilities

• Revenue & Accounts Payable Processing
• Review accounts payable entries (not responsible for posting) and process receipts and contributions.
• Multi-Entity Bookkeeping
• Manage financials for 4-5 locations.
• Journal Entries
• Prepare entries for cash accounts, payroll, reserves, and subsidiary ledgers.
• Month-End Close
• Submit reports to the Accounting Manager for review before distribution to key stakeholders.
• Financial Reporting
• Produce balance sheets, income statements, and specialized reports for each location, including advisory board reports.
  

Qualifications

Required:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Teams, SharePoint).
• 1-2 years of accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of debits and credits.
• Willingness to learn new accounting software.
  
  

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
