Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the daily operations of the accounting department, including AP/AR, payroll, GL, and bank reconciliations.
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
- Prepare internal and external financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and job cost reports.
- Manage job costing, project accounting, and WIP (Work-in-Progress) reporting for multiple construction projects.
- Monitor budgets and forecast cash flow needs for the organization and individual projects.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and industry-specific financial standards.
- Coordinate with external auditors and manage the annual audit process.
- Implement and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and financial systems.
- Supervise and develop a team of accounting staff.
- Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and executive leadership on financial planning and analysis.
- Support strategic planning and business development initiatives with financial analysis and modeling.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
- 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or Controller role.
- Experience in the construction industry, including job costing and WIP reporting, is required.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Proficiency with accounting software (experience with construction-specific systems such as Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint, or Foundation preferred).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally.
