Treasury Manager

The Treasury Manager is responsible for managing the financial health and liquidity of an insurance company by overseeing cash flow, investments, and financial risks associated with premiums, claims payouts, and regulatory capital requirements. This role ensures compliance with statutory accounting principles (SAP) and regulatory requirements while optimizing returns through strategic investment management.

Key Responsibilities

Cash Flow & Liquidity Management:

• Monitor daily cash positions and forecast short-term and long-term liquidity needs to maintain financial stability.
• Manage bank relationships, including account structures, credit facilities, and negotiating favorable terms.
• Optimize cash flow by analyzing premium collections, claims disbursements, and investment maturities to ensure timely obligations fulfillment.
  
  

Investment & Asset Management

• Select appropriate investment instruments aligned with risk tolerance, regulatory guidelines, and market conditions.
• Manage the company’s investment portfolio to maximize returns while ensuring compliance with SAP and risk mitigation strategies.
• Monitor investment performance and adjust strategies based on economic trends and market conditions.
  
  

Financial Risk Management

• Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks, including interest rate fluctuations, foreign exchange exposure, and credit risks.
• Develop and implement hedging strategies to minimize exposure to financial volatility.
• Monitor statutory capital requirements to ensure sufficient reserves are maintained in compliance with insurance regulations.
  
  

Regulatory & Statutory Compliance

• Ensure adherence to Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) as established by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).
• Maintain accurate financial reporting in alignment with the NAIC Accounting Practices and Procedures (AP&P) Manual.
• Establish robust internal controls to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and maintain solvency.
• Stay informed on regulatory updates and compliance requirements affecting insurance financial management.
  
  

Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare and present financial reports on cash flow, liquidity, and investment performance to senior management.
• Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, forecast future financial needs, and support strategic decision-making.
• Ensure statutory reserves are accurately calculated and reported per SAP guidelines.
  
  

Stakeholder & Cross-Department Collaboration

• Work closely with underwriting, claims, and accounting teams to align financial strategies with operational needs.
• Maintain strong relationships with financial institutions, regulatory bodies, and investment partners.
  
  

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of financial markets, investment strategies, and financial risk management.
• Expertise in P&C insurance industry practices, regulations, and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP).
• Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and analysis.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey complex financial information to stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Relevant experience in treasury management within the insurance industry.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• MBA or CPA, CFA, CTP certification.
• Experience working with regulatory bodies such as the NAIC.
• Familiarity with both SAP and GAAP financial reporting frameworks.
