Major Function

The Commodity Buyer position is responsible for the procurement of purchased parts, raw materials, and services to support Creative Foam production to meet customer requirements. The Commodity Buyer manages the sourcing process including issuing RFQ’s and working cross-functionally to lead and support sourcing recommendations. The Commodity Buyer monitors suppliers cost, quality, and delivery performance to ensure a highly performing and capable supply base to provide Creative Foam with a competitive advantage in purchased materials to support Creative Foam’s performance and growth.

The Commodity Buyer contributes to cultivating a positive business relationship with current and potential suppliers and works openly and cross-functionally to plan and execute sourcing strategies and business plans.

Essential Functions

• Maintain and update Commodity Strategies for assigned commodity
• Build strong and authentic internal and external working relationships that support teamwork and encourages open communication
• Support new business opportunities
• Develop and support building a highly competitive strategic supply base producing loyal supply partners that deliver long-term results
• Issue and maintain production purchase orders
• Maintain supplier and business open issues action lists with accountability to address and resolve items with timing set by the Purchasing Director
• Accountable for meeting annual direct material commodity and plant budgets
• Support Creative Foam digital transformational initiatives
• Monitor local, regional, and global business market conditions to identify opportunities and early risk warning signs
• Maintain corporate purchasing files
• Assist with data collection and input for Corporate Purchasing Monthly Activity Report as required.
• Address, negotiate and resolve supplier pricing issues for assigned commodities
• Perform database/spreadsheet input form supplier analysis as assigned
• Assist in tracking and maintaining files of Supplier Quality Assurance Requirements
• Produce and mail quarterly summary rating to suppliers
• Perform other tasks as required
  
  

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5years experience managing and sourcing raw materials and/or purchased parts including RFQ issuance, cost analysis, and managing to meet company cost reduction targets
• 3-5 years’ experience in commodity purchasing for the healthcare industry is preferred
• Experience with an ERP system, preferably Plex
• Strong spreadsheet and presentation summary skills
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams to execute company objectives
• Strong problem solving, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
• Experience applying and leveraging Purchase Terms and Conditions
  
  

Skills And Abilities

• Strong communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, and professionalism
• Strong computer skills and proficiency in all MS Office applications
• Ability to manage all aspects of the supplier relationship and knowing when to escalate to leadership within Creative Foam and at the supplier
• Knowledge of CAD data and part prints a plus
• Experience negotiating directly with suppliers to achieve price, quality, delivery, and stated performance targets
• Self-motivated
  
  

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree required and preferably in Supply Chain Management or associated field
