The Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Art, Artificial Intelligence, and Emergent Digital Practices. We seek an innovative and forward-thinking artist-scholar whose work explores the dynamic intersections of contemporary art and emergent technologies. The successful candidate will be instrumental in expanding the role of AI in visual arts, addressing its applications, ethical implications, and transformative potential in artmaking, design, and cultural production. This individual will join a vibrant interdisciplinary community and contribute to shaping the future of digital art and technology at the university.
Responsibilities :
- Teach four courses per year at all levels of undergraduate and graduate instruction, on topics related to emergent digital practices in the arts, including but not limited to artificial intelligence, generative art, machine learning, algorithmic aesthetics, creative coding, and human-computer interaction.
- Develop and sustain an active creative research practice, leading to exhibitions and other forms of recognition.
- Contribute to curriculum development that incorporates emerging digital practices and AI technologies in the arts, addressing conceptual, ethical, and technical issues, as well as issues of accessibility, diverse educational and cultural backgrounds, and learning styles as they relate to teaching digital arts and emerging technologies.
- Collaborate with other faculty in cross-disciplinary initiatives, particularly within the university’s burgeoning AI research community.
- Provide mentorship to the department’s diverse student body at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Engage in service activities that contribute to the governance of the School and University, including committee work and program development.
- Actively contribute to the community of the department in building a collaborative work and learning environment that is inclusive.

Minimum Qualifications :
MFA or equivalent terminal degree in Art, Digital Media, Computational Design, or a related field.
