Lead Teachers
General Responsibilities
- Arrive on time and ensure the classroom is set up daily before children arrive.
- Use time effectively to ensure smooth classroom operations.
- Show genuine interest and enthusiasm for the work.
- Demonstrate a Christian lifestyle in interactions with parents, children, and co-workers.
- Collaborate as a team member to meet the needs of children, families, and the program.
- Suggest and develop new ideas and methods to enhance the learning experience.
- Exercise good judgment, involving the supervisor only when necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Follow all Daycare And DMC policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Curriculum and Lesson Planning
- Implement daily lesson plans following the provided curriculum, which would include, but not be limited to, large group, small group, choice time, and at least 30 minutes of outdoor play every day if possible. Lessons must be read, planned, and prepared before the day of walking into the classroom.
- Understand the difference between developmentally appropriate and age-appropriate practices.
- Create and send out monthly newsletters with a summary of the lessons, upcoming events, and any important reminders for families. Submit the newsletter to the director for approval before sending it out.
- Understand that all events or activities outside of the curriculum, including holiday parties, must have prior approval from the director. Coordinate with all lead teachers to align holiday party plans across the center.
- Complete all required assessments, observations, and screenings.
- Maintain up-to-date student portfolios.
- Keep accurate records and documentation for each child.
- Submit necessary transition paperwork to teachers.
- Provide opportunities for spiritual growth for children through prayer, Bible stories, and songs.
Professionalism and Communication
- Represent Daycare And DMC in a professional manner.
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings, special events, and training sessions.
- Complete child development assessments and be available for Parent-Teacher Conferences when planned.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with families, children, and coworkers.
- Adhere to all Daycare And DMC policies and procedures.
Classroom Environment and Management
- Work with children at their level, scaffolding their learning and engaging them in daily activities.
- Maintain a neat and organized classroom environment.
- Demonstrate effective classroom management skills.
- Inform the director of any center needs, maintenance issues, or supply shortages.
- Stay informed about licensing rules and regulations, including ratio standards..
Collaboration and Teamwork
- Work as a team member with other staff and caregivers in the classroom to meet children's needs.
- Take the lead in the classroom, providing instructions and guidance to staff and caregivers.
- Be adaptable with scheduling and willing to serve as a substitute or caregiver in different classrooms as needed, as well as be aware of all opening and closing center protocols in case you are scheduled for those shifts.
Administrative and Organizational Tasks
- Complete all paperwork on time and be mindful of deadlines.
- Submit all paperwork to the director on time.
- Complete all cleaning tasks assigned by the director.
- Personal cell phones may be used during work hours for emergencies or quick responses. However, if used frequently, they should be placed in a personal bag to minimize distractions. Children should not see a teacher using their personal phone during work hours.
Opener Responsibilities - if scheduled
- Ensure that doors remain locked until it is light outside or until the second staff member arrives.
- Turn on lights and set up chairs for the day.
- Greet children and parents with a positive and welcoming attitude.
- Record arrival times and communicate any child changes to Primaries at the end of your shift.
- Assist children with storing personal items such as backpacks and lunches, and help them find their designated classroom.
- Comfort children and assist with the separation process. Ask parents if there are any comforting items or techniques they’d like used, such as taking the child to the window to wave goodbye.
- For latchkey children, ensure they are placed on their bus and record departure times.
- Follow medication procedures and complete permission forms. Check backpacks and bags for any medication; if found, remove and give it to the office.
- Check backpacks and bags for extra clothing, diapers, wipes, and bedding, and ensure these items are taken care of properly.
- Assist with serving breakfast to the children
Closing Responsibilities - if scheduled
First to Leave Responsibilities:
- Dishes: Ensure all dishes are washed, dried, and put away.
- Bathroom Breaks: Ask if anyone needs a bathroom break before leaving and ensure restrooms are maintained.
- Kitchen Clean-Up: Take out the kitchen trash and ensure the kitchen is left clean and tidy.
- Readiness Room & YT Room Trash: Empty trash cans in both Readiness Room and YT Room.
Two Closers Responsibilities:
- Always leave together and do a final check of the cleaning and closing chart.
- The cleaning and closing chart will include, but is not limited to the following responsibilities:
- YT Room: Sweep/mop, vacuum, clean blinds, wipe tables, check sink water, empty diaper pail, and ensure tablets/walkie talkies are stored properly.
- Readiness Room: Sweep/mop, vacuum, clean blinds, and wipe tables.
- Beginner/LK Room: Empty trash, sweep/mop, vacuum, clean blinds, and wipe tables.
- Pre-K Room: Empty trash, sweep/mop, vacuum, clean blinds, and wipe tables.
- Kitchen: Sweep/mop and vacuum.
- Bathrooms: Empty trash, sweep/mop, vacuum, clean toilets, wipe sink, and empty diaper pail.
- Building: Lock doors, lock gate, clean and pick up toys from the yard, turn off lights, ensure tablets/walkie talkies are put away, and lock windows.
Additional Closing Responsibilities:
- Kitchen Supplies: When an item runs out in the kitchen, write it on the menu and notify the office immediately.
- Initialing: Each staff member is responsible for initialing what they cleaned before leaving to ensure accountability.

TO BE QUALIFIED TO BE A LEAD TEACHER, ONE MUST HAVE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
1. High school diploma/GED with a combination of 12 semester hours in early childhood education or in a child-related field* and/or 18 CEUs equal to 180 clock hours AND one years of demonstrated successful experience in a licensed or registered facility serving the ages and developmental abilities of infant through preschool aged-children. Training required must include 3 semester hours or 4.5 CEUs in infant/toddler development and care practices within 6 months of hire.
2. High school diploma/GED with 12 semester hours in early childhood education or in a child-related field AND a minimum of six months of demonstrated successful experience in a licensed or registered facility serving the ages and developmental abilities of infant through preschool aged children.
3. Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or Montessori Credential and three months of demonstrated successful experience in a licensed or registered facility serving the ages and developmental abilities of infant through preschool aged children.
4. Associate degree or higher in early childhood education or child development.
5. Bachelor's degree or higher in early childhood education, child development, or a child-related field
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $12.60 - $17.00 per hour
