The Opportunity
The Instructional Coach is a key member of the BCIC’s programs team working to ensure BCIC achieves its mission. This position serves as the primary point of contact for BCIC teaching staff and ensure that students achieve the stated outcomes. Under the direction of the Program Manager and/or the Director of Programs, the Instructional Coach will provide instructional and administrative leadership that builds and supports a high-performance education team by inspiring, integrating, and aligning the programmatic work of the BCIC. The Instructional Coach will perform specific responsibilities that include, but are not limited to the following:
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Design:
- Develop and implement a standardize curriculum for assigned program divided into 8,16, or 32-week intervals.
- Collaborates with instructors on the creation of curriculum planning. Provides timely feedback, recommend areas for revision and review based on data, feedback and field knowledge.
- Conducts lesson plan audits to inform appropriate supports and professional learning for instructor.
- Coordinates and administers pre and post assessments, surveys, and other data related request. Provides training to instructors as needed.
- Conducts curriculum audits to ensure cultural relevance in all aspects of our instructional model.
- Serve as primary instructional leader ensuring that BCIC’s program tightly aligned to student achievement outcomes.
- Develop and evaluate instructional initiatives and strategies designed to improve instructional outcomes.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate instructor effectiveness, providing consistent feedback and opportunities for improvement.
- Lead a positive student and staff culture, modeling high expectations for.
Instructional Coaching
- Serve as instructional coach to an assigned cohort of instructors to ensure that BCIC retains the best-in-class staff, programs, and outcomes.
- Leads professional development (PD) around best practices for the instructors. Plans and differentiates PD based on subject-area, instructor experience, and organizational goals.
- Leads bi-weekly meetings with our assigned coaching cohorts.
- Oversee high quality professional development and facilitate continuous professional learning;
- Leads and plans summer professional development for programming staff. Plans and leads additional summer PD and bi-weekly ‘New Instructor Cohort’ meetings, a seminar for teaching new staff.
- In conjunction with the Director of Programs, supports BCIC in being data driven. Works with the Program and teaching staff to analyze, interpret and use student performance data.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- A. degree, preferably in computer science, Education, or business.
- 1 to 2 years’ experience in a nonprofit office; preference given to background in arts, education and/or STEM settings.

- Knowledge of state-of-the-art research and proven best practices in areas of closing the achievement gaps and meeting the diverse needs of students.

- Effective management principles, practices, and supervision techniques.
- Possesses strong strategic thinking skills.
- Displays excellent written and oral communication skills using tact, patience and courtesy.

- Must have reliable transpiration
- Fluency in Spanish a plus.
