Job Description / Scope of Work
IBSS is seeking a full-time Technical Editor of Marine Sciences to support NOAA's Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC). The Editor will manage and execute the process by which staff members publish and document scientific research, including publishing in formal scientific literature as well as in informal series maintained by the agency.
The Editor will also work closely with authors to develop all manuscripts, deal with publishing and distribution for the agency's informal series, and ensure that published reports and papers conform to agency policies and requirements, as well as style and usage guidelines.
Key Responsibilities :
Serve as the local administrator for the NEFSC's Research Publication Tracking System (RPTS)Work effectively with authors to develop manuscripts, deal with publishing issues, and interpret journal submissions and copyright policiesMake periodic required reports to NOAA FisheriesCopyedit scientific manuscriptsMaintain and circulate a current style sheet and author guidelines for agency-published serials and papersEnsure that final agency-published serials and papers conform to the Council for Science Editors style and other agency standards, and meet Section 508 standards prior to electronic distributionMaintain the in-house publication databaseRequired Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree with 3 years of experience related to communications, marketing, new media, public relations, or a similar fieldAt least 2 years of experience working with manuscripts in a natural science fieldFull-performance level knowledge of the theories, principles, and methods of technical editing and writingSkills and experience in managing in-house standards for publication production including style, usage, distribution, documentation, and 508 complianceKnowledge, skill and ability to assist with planning and designing social media campaigns and content to support the overall editorial calendarAbility to use Adobe Creative Cloud photo, video, and audio production software to produce visual and audio support products for use on digital platformsAbility to learn and conform to agency web and visualization policies, styles, guidelines, and its content management systemJ-18808-Ljbffr
