JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the management, leadership and oversight of a residential program specific to brain injuries. This includes supervision of staff, oversight of program operations and ensuring compliance with all licensing standards. Additionally, this position will actively participate in the strategic planning process of Creative Works and the development of new programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Support House Managers and/or Direct Support Professionals in all areas of supervision and training of staff.
Adhere to a regular meeting schedule with all staff to ensure ongoing communication and support.
Provides quality care to program participants in an environment that promotes their rights, dignity, freedom of choice and individuality.
Maintains the comfort, privacy, and dignity of participants in the delivery of services, which may include assistance with grooming, bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, incontinent care, toileting, transferring, ambulation, and range of motion, communicating or other needs.
Fully understands and abides by the agency’s code of ethics.
Ability to adequately write Individual Program Plans (IPP) that sufficiently reflects the participants’ goals and expectations.
Oversee daily operations of programming.
Ensure all DOL regulations and CARF accreditation standards are being adhered to on a daily basis.
Participate in Agency/Regional meetings, communicate concerns and report outcomes back to staff in a timely manner.
Participate in strategic planning and ensure appropriate goal development and implementation as it relates to the residential programs.
Complete all necessary documentation and reports to ensure timely delivery of all documents to staff and stakeholders according to the set standards of Creative Works. Ensure timely submittal of any and all required documents (when applicable) to Business Office in a timely manner.
Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with participants, Creative Works team members, family members, guardians, case workers, and other stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist staff in adhering to Personnel Policies and Procedures.
Ensure staff members adhere to all safety procedures including but not limited to fire drills, evacuation plans and emergency procedures.
Ensure performance reviews are written adequately and presented timely to staff.
Assists and transports participants for appointments, errands and community outings.
Schedules staff to ensure adequate coverage for the program.
Plan and conduct regular staff meetings.
Train new staff and develop existing staff by offering opportunities to learn new skills and take on leadership responsibilities.
Develop a team and work to ensure that the team dynamic is successful and working well.
Performs all job responsibilities in accordance with the CW Safety and Health policies.
Ensure compliance with all CW policies.
Ability to remain patient and empathetic in all situations.
Ability to remain flexible and quickly adapt to changing circumstances.
Must be able to problem solve and offer solutions, and work as part of a team.
Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL WORK TOLERANCES:
This position is very active and requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching.
Must frequently assist in lifting non-living loads up to 50 lbs.
Must frequently assists participants’ with transfers.
While performing this job the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and see to the extent necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED
Ability to speak, read and write in English
B.A. Degree preferred
Valid US Driver’s License.
Satisfactory driving record per agency’s insurance company standards.
Direct Support experience preferred.
Brain injury experience preferred.
Must have ability to communicate well in the program, including the ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language so that the support of the participant receiving services can be met, and so that the relationship and work with co-workers, doctors, therapists and others in the community is successful.
Must be able to perform basic math skills to the extent necessary to perform the job.
Must have or be willing to obtain the following: DSP, CRMA, Welle, Specialized Brain Injury Training
All required trainings must be completed within four months of hiring date.
Must have adequate writing skills to maintain documentation standards, reports, IPPs, and any other writing expectation in the program.
Progressively responsible experience managing services/programs.
Direct supervisory experience.
