Exciting Opportunity For a Test Engineer At Coherent Corp
Coherent Corp. is seeking a skilled Test Engineer to join its team. This role involves developing test scripts to validate firmware for optical transceivers and related products. The ideal candidate will collaborate with firmware engineers, define test coverage, and ensure the performance and readiness of test systems.
Primary Responsibilities
Develop test scripts to validate firmware running on optical transceivers and related products.
Work closely with firmware engineers to establish requirements and create test coverage for new product introductions (NPI) and features.
Design and implement test coverage and scripts based on product specifications and requirements.
Qualify new test instruments and integrate them into the test software platform.
Maintain test system performance and ensure readiness for validation tasks.
Adhere to software development processes for test script creation, platform development, and release.
Conduct testing, analyze results, and fulfill test requests while providing timely reports, reviews, and explanations as needed.
Collaborate with team members to verify and debug product or customer issues.
Participate in project and team meetings, offering insights on test-related matters and innovative ideas.
Maintain up-to-date test scripts and documentation to ensure high quality and accuracy.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Skills And Qualifications
A Master’s degree is preferred but not required.
Proficiency in Python programming and Git version control.
Familiarity with C, C , and C# is a plus.
Knowledge of optics and signal processing is beneficial.
Understanding of communication protocols such as UART, I2C, and SPI.
Experience with hardware and instrument control, including digital I/O, timers, ADCs, and low-power modes.
Ability to work at the hardware/software interface, including reading and writing registers and interpreting hardware specifications.
Comfortable using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power supplies.
Hands-on experience in hardware testing or laboratory environments.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
Working Conditions
This is an on-site position.
May require occasional travel or off-site meetings.
Regular use of computers and office equipment.
Frequent interaction with team members and external contacts.
Occasional overtime and flexible work hours may be required.
