Job Description
An internal tools team is seeking an intern to contribute to multiple applications and databases that provide critical support for worldwide product engineering teams. These teams are responsible for developing the next generation of data storage devices. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers, gain insights into foundational technologies that power modern data storage solutions, and apply recently acquired skills in a real-world use case of Gen AI Summarization. The ideal candidate is a curious, creative, and tenacious problem solver with a passion for AI and software engineering. A strong desire to learn, an empathetic approach to user challenges, and an enthusiasm for developing user-centric software solutions are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
Develop methodologies for evaluating AI models
Identify optimal base LLM and text embedding models for specific use cases
Survey available data for training and determine the best approach to incorporate it into a training pipeline
Create a project plan for developing a Gen AI Summarization tool
Execute project tasks, including developing, testing, and deploying the Gen AI Summarization tool (if time allows)
Participate in code peer reviews
Collaborate with end users and content subject matter experts
Provide timely updates on project status and communicate effectively with team members
Qualifications
Must have the right to work in the US without requiring immigration sponsorship
Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (Graduating between May 2026 - December 2026)
Completion of one or more courses covering Gen AI, LLMs, Machine Learning, and/or Data Science
Proficiency in Python, Java, or C programming languages
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Commitment to writing high-quality code and delivering excellent user experiences
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of file I/O handling and text parsing methods
Experience with open-source AI tools such as LlamaIndex and Hugging Face
Understanding of RAG-based application development
Familiarity with NLP concepts and methodologies
Knowledge of internal algorithms that underpin candidate LLMs and text embedding models
Background in Computational Linguistics

Based on role and performance, employees may qualify for the Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which includes restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents. Eligibility for LTI awards varies by position.
