We are seeking a Closer - Funder for the New Orleans Home Loans Closing and Underwriting Department.
The role of the Closer-Funder is to follow policy, procedures, and guidelines for Credit Human Home Loans in accordance with Credit Human lending guidelines, secondary market guidelines, and local, state, and federal rules and regulations. The incumbent must stay abreast of internal lending policies, practices, guidelines, lending systems, and products, as well as external regulatory and economic environments.
The role is responsible for reviewing loan documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal, regulatory, private mortgage insurance, and investor guidelines. The goal is to meet quality and service standards in a timely and accurate manner.

Highlights:
- Follow procedures to efficiently and accurately close and fund home loan products in a quality consistent with established Credit Union policies and guidelines, NCUA regulations, CFPB, FNMA, and Private Mortgage Insurance guidelines
- Maintain a pipeline of loan closings and funding and be responsible for the timely and compliant flow of such loans through the closing process
- Monitor and ensure home loans are closed in a timely manner to qualified members and in accordance with pre-established policies, procedures, guidelines, and checklists
- Close all types of mortgage loan transactions and ensure legal documents are properly executed and recorded in a timely manner to secure the underlying collateral and credit union lien position
- Ensure that all of the documentation necessary to close and fund the loan has been received and reviewed, and the data is accurately updated in the system of record
- Support Home Loan management in the development and implementation of continuous improvements as directed
Experience:
Required
- Must have a minimum of 1-2 years of experience in the mortgage industry
Preferred
- Encompass systems experience
- Closing and funding experience
Education:
Required
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
Licenses & Certifications:
Required
- Requires eligibility to be registered as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) with the National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) and Registry.
Preferred
- NMLS registered
Skills & Knowledge:
Required
- Basic knowledge of home loan closing guidelines and rules and regulations governed by local, state, and federal agencies
- Basic knowledge in real estate closing and fundings
- Ability to effectively communicate
- Ability to use sound judgment and possess strong decision-making skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and audit skills
- Strong organization skills and results-oriented
- Computer skills to include Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe and the ability to use basic office equipment
- A strong sense of urgency in meeting deadlines
- Excellent customer service skills, both in person and over the telephone
Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8:30 am-5:30 pm

Salary Starts at: $50,199 annually
