We’re seeking a Chief Compliance Officer to own all aspects of regulatory compliance. This role provides company-wide leadership, standards, support, and independent oversight to ensure that the organization is compliant with applicable laws, regulations, and company policy. This individual will provide appropriate analysis, reporting, and escalation to Executive management and the Board, set minimum standards for Credit Sesame, and provide guidance for compliance and operational risk management activities across the company. You’ll be the subject matter expert and “go to” compliance leader in multiple functional areas with cutting edge industry expertise.
The ideal candidate will be able to think creatively about leveraging technology to improve business processes and related compliance programs. This role will report to our Chief Executive Officer and will interface extensively with other Executives and mid-level management.

- partner with our Product, Marketing, and Engineering, Legal, and other teams to help innovate in ways that benefit consumers and enhance compliance to meet changing legal and regulatory requirements;
- serve as subject matter expert to lines of business to determine compliance requirements in product development and marketing and address existing and emerging compliance risks;
- promote a culture of compliance across the organization;
- create policies and trainings for the organization and staff to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures;
- consistently influence decision-making and push the company forward cross-functionally in compliance/regulatory areas of strategic importance;
- translate company strategic goals into clearly defined processes and initiatives that support cross-functional objectives;
- set the direction for and provide leadership to the organization, and propose and lead impactful initiatives;
- manage the monitoring and testing of policies, procedures, and internal controls, conduct risk assessments, train staff to self-identify control breaks, and monitor the implementation of corrective actions and escalate when appropriate;
- provide support to the organization in regulatory exams and third-party audits.

- You have strong people management experience and demonstrated ability to build out processes.
- You have an ability to effectively communicate with C-level executives on business concepts and strategy and have the self confidence to say what you need to say to senior colleagues;
- You’re an expert in consumer protection laws including GLBA, UDAAP, FCRA, Reg. E, Reg. Z, BSA/AML, and state privacy laws.
- You have demonstrated knowledge of regulatory risks, processes and controls.
- You have strong knowledge of control frameworks and the ability to design and evaluate the effectiveness of controls embedded within business processes.
- You have strong project management, critical thinking and analytical skills.
- You have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex and sensitive issues to senior management and the executive team in a clear and persuasive manner.
- You are proactive, take the initiative, and can work independently with little to no supervision.
- You have experience with regulators (experience with federal regulators preferred).

At Credit Sesame, base pay is one part of our total compensation package. Actual salary will vary based on a candidate’s location, qualifications, skills, and experience. Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Credit Sesame’s bonus and equity plans. The estimated pay range for this role is $210,000 - $250,000.
