General Purpose of the Position


The Director of Marketing drives the credit union’s marketing activities by developing and implementing marketing, brand, and communication plans and programs, overseeing day-to-day marketing operations, and identifying growth opportunities. Direct responsibilities include oversight of branding, marketing, advertising, business development, community engagement activities, and the design and execution of customer, sales, and revenue growth strategies. This leadership role works closely with the SVP of Marketing and Digital Services and identifies and develops processes that support the credit union’s strategic objectives.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Provides leadership and direction to staff. Ensures a trained, motivated, and professional team capable of delivering efficient and effective Marketing service to the Credit Union’s members and prospective members. Interviews, recommends hires, schedules, trains, assigns work, coaches and counsels, establishes performance expectations, evaluates, and monitors results.
  • Manages vendor relationships including but not limited to advertising agency, public relations, media buying agency, marketing automation, and web provider.
  • Develops, designs, and implements products and services within budget through internal marketing and ongoing member communication (i.e., online, social media, targeted advertising, newsletter, statement inserts, press releases, and applications) to meet credit union’s goals, objectives, and member needs. Directs and recommends all promotions of the Credit Union’s products & services.
  • Employs earned media, proactive public relations and communications, social media engagement, and content marketing methods to improve marketing effectiveness and fortify brand image.
  • Participates in developing, positioning, policy, and pricing products & services.
  • Monitors market and industry trends.
  • Collects and analyzes data on members, products, services, the marketplace, and competitors.
  • Communicates information to Credit Union Staff and Management.
  • Develops and executes strategically appropriate marketing “funnel” to include the entire customer decision journey and lifecycle (awareness, evaluation, conversion, use/experience, loyalty, advocacy).
  • Designs, defines, and implements an annual Marketing Plan in accordance with the goals and objectives of the Board of Directors and Management. Works closely with departments on all levels to meet and incorporate marketing needs.
  • Develops and manages the marketing budget and expenditures.
  • Promotes events that will favorably project the credit union’s image.
  • Coordinates with the vendors to ensure products and services are delivered to meet member needs and financial goals.
  • Collaborates with organizational stakeholders and partners to develop marketing strategies and new products and services.
  • Optimizes marketing tools and technologies to achieve full range of strategic and tactical marketing objectives.
  • Directs the corporate community-building efforts. Oversees the planning and execution of corporate special events.
  • Directs the corporate online presence and marketing initiatives, including website and social media.
  • Leads, coaches, engages, and develops marketing staff to deliver effective and innovative marketing capabilities and outcomes to the organization.
  • Adheres to all Federal and State laws and regulations applicable to the credit union, including the Bank Secrecy Act and OFAC.
  • Responsible for compliance with the Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act (FACTA), the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), and the Anti Money Laundering Act, including monitoring for such illegal activity as it applies to this position.
  • May perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Requirements


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and 7 to 10 years progressively responsible experience in branch operations, marketing, lending, or business services, preferably in a financial institution or similar. Additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree. Demonstrated knowledge of Credit Union rules and regulations. Demonstrated ability to translate brand vision to all communication channels including social media platforms, paid media, event activations, and direct member communications. Exposure to multiple strategic domains within the field is preferred (such as brand design and activation, advertising, communications, product promotion, creative and design, public relations, business development, etc.) Previous experience with marketing automation, MCIF/data analytics, Google AdWords and Analytics, SEO, website development, and journey analysis.


OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES


Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills that engender an increase in employee and member confidence, respect, and trust in the Credit Union of Colorado. Ability to operate standard office machines and PC; advanced knowledge of computer desktop publishing and website content maintenance. Highly adept at cultivating cross-departmental relationships.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is typically required to sit for long periods. The employee is continually required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop and reach with hands and arms. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
