Job Summary
The Lab Support Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient lab environment. This role involves inventory management, logistical support, and collaboration with various departments to ensure that all lab materials—including evaluation boards, electronic equipment, computer parts, and other necessary supplies—are readily available. The technician will also be tasked with upholding safety standards and enhancing the overall functionality of the lab.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
- Organize and maintain inventory of all lab materials, including evaluation boards, electronic components, computers, and related parts.
- Regularly assess and replenish supplies as needed, ensuring all lab items are stocked and readily accessible to engineers.
Lab Environment Maintenance:
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of lab spaces by keeping workbenches, doors, and floors tidy.
- Monitor air quality and noise levels to foster a conducive working atmosphere.
- Oversee the proper disposal of recycling materials, ensuring no waste is overlooked.
Equipment Management:
- Maintain and organize storage areas for boxes and lab equipment, ensuring everything is stored logically and safely.
- Manage a clean and operational state of lab computers and equipment, conducting routine checks and maintenance.
Customer Service and Support:
- Provide exceptional support to engineering teams by assisting with the setting up of equipment, evaluation boards, and any lab-related activities.
- Actively engage with engineering teams to understand their needs, ensuring swift and effective resolutions to any issues that arise.
Shipping and Receiving:
- Pack and ship lab-related items for engineering staff and sales as required, ensuring timely delivery and secure handling of materials.
- Collaborate closely with the Shanghai office on shipping logistics to facilitate smooth operations.
Collaboration with IT and Facilities:
- Work in coordination with the IT department to ensure proper data storage, data security, and functionality of lab IT equipment, including internet connections.
- Work with the Facilities team to address lab needs concerning electricity, air conditioning, and overall safety regulations.
Asset Control and Management:
- Manage rental equipment and maintain an inventory control system for assets valued above $5,000, working closely with the Purchasing and Accounting departments.
- Conduct yearly audits of lab assets in collaboration with the accounting team to ensure accurate records and compliance.
Trade Show Support:
- Assist in preparation for trade shows by managing inventory, packing, and shipping necessary lab materials.
Purchasing Assistance:
- Perform light purchasing duties as needed to ensure the lab has all necessary components and supplies.
Skills Required:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective customer service.
- Proficiency in inventory management and preferred familiarity with electronic and computer components.
- Ability to collaborate with multiple departments and support cross-functional initiatives.
- Experience in asset management is a plus.
- Basic understanding of safety protocols and compliance standards in a lab environment.
- Basic understanding of computer software and hardware.
