Position Overview
Athena Medtech is seeking an experienced and compassionate NICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The ideal candidate will be skilled in delivering high-level care to premature and critically ill newborns, while also providing essential support to families during challenging times.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a Level III or IV NICU setting
- Licensure: Active RN license in the State of Rhode Island (required)
- Certifications:
- BLS/CPR (required)
- Additional NICU-specific certifications preferred (e.g., NRP)
- Other Requirements:
- Proficiency in English
- COVID-19 vaccination required
- Provide comprehensive, 24-hour care to newborns with critical health needs
- Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and adjust specialized equipment
- Develop and evaluate individualized nursing care plans for neonatal patients
- Feed and tend to the basic needs of infants while ensuring a nurturing environment
- Educate and support families regarding home care and long-term considerations
- Serve as a primary advocate and point of contact for newborns and their families
- Collaborate with neonatologists and the wider interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
- Deep understanding of neonatal health conditions and intensive care procedures
- Proficient in using NICU monitoring and life-support equipment
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills in high-stakes situations
- Compassionate communicator, particularly with parents and families in crisis
- Excellent documentation, planning, and patient care coordination abilities
