Medical Biller is responsible for performing day-to-day billing and follow up activities for a busy and growing mental health private practice. At times, the medical biller may be asked to assist the administrative assistants with answering phones, scheduling, and other administrative tasks within the office. Medical Biller/Administrative Assistant Job Responsibilities
- Experience working with individuals with behavioral and mental health diagnoses
- Accurately process claims, manage and process rejections in a timely manner
- Verify clients’ insurance benefits and ensure accurate demographic information in EHR
- Collect client co-pays and statement payments.
- Greeting and assisting clients by answering questions regarding billing issues
- Organize and maintain files and databases in a confidential manner.
- Updating client information as needed in the virtual scheduling system.
- Answer phone calls and help clients with any scheduling, billing, or other needs.
Administrative Assistant Qualifications/Skills
- Detail oriented
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage escalated individuals in a professional manner
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong ability to manage time and prioritize tasks
- Knowledge of DSM-V, CPT, insurance terminology
Education and Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (Required), associate’s degree in Business Administration and/or Medical Billing preferred.
- 1 year of medical billing experience (Required), 1 year of billing in a mental health field preferred
- Medical office/Mental health office experience preferred
