GENERAL SUMMARY: Operation of multiple lasers. Responsible for the production of parts in a safe manner following the routing described and the specifications required by the blueprint.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate and control three or more laser machines and material system.
- Perform daily calibration and overall checks of machine and system.
- Perform dynamic nesting and create necessary shop documents at the machine.
- Maintain acceptable levels of material utilization.
- Produce parts according to routing package instructions.
- Report labor and job data accurately.
- Maintain safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Maintain clean and neat work area.
- Perform other jobs within the department or plant as required by supervision.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Prior experience in a manufacturing environment required.
SKILLS:
A good command of the English language is required, both written and spoken. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required. Must have blueprint reading skills and be able to check parts to print. Develop a high level of machine knowledge so as to avoid downtime, breakdown, and/or damage.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to physically perform the essential functions of the job. For normal set-up and operation of laser. Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 24 lbs., frequently up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs. Typically requires standing on a regular basis and walking and stooping occasionally. Must be able to handle parts for inspection, stack parts and move parts to next operation and/or work station. Specific vision requirements include depth perception and peripheral vision.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Operation of lasers is required. Regularly exposed to noise. Typically requires the use of a forklift and hoist. Hearing protection, safety glasses and steel-toed shoes with metatarsal protection are required.
