SUMMARY:
The Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring the quality of products and processes at a specific location. This position provides work direction for Quality Engineers, technicians and inspectors, team leaders and employees, and establishes, monitors and continuously improves the quality management system. This position interacts regularly with production, engineering, manufacturing and service functions to establish quality standards for raw material, work in process and finished products. The ideal candidate is an organized, analytical, problem-solver with the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks to ensure that daily operations are running effectively and efficiently. This ideal candidate would also be required to work with our teams at the point of operation as needed, as this is a "hands on" manager role. Strong leadership skills and experience are required.
- Leading team of Quality Engineers, technicians and inspectors.
- Maintenance and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System, ensuing the quality system follows ISO:9001 guidelines.
- Monitoring quality trends and communicating opportunities for improvement.
- Assuring product quality at the plant for both incoming and outgoing material.
- Corrective action methods for internal and external customer issues.
- Facilitating advanced product quality planning (APQP).
- Continuously improves the quality system to provide internal and external customers with products/services that meet or exceed customer requirements.
- Serves as primary external customer contact for quality-related concerns and escalations.
- Responsible for orienting, training, coaching, evaluating and disciplining department employees.
- Plans and reviews compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.
- Strong Problem-Solving Capabilities – with ability to utilize problem solving tools.
- Serves as Management Representative for ISO:9001.
- Meets quality department financial objectives, including key Cost of Quality metrics.
- Oversees corrective and preventive action system.
- Compiles Quality-related data for daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly/yearly repot outs.
- Develops and tracks QMS performance based upon agreed metrics. Develops and implements action plans to achieve performance targets.
- Monitors suitability and effectiveness of audit programs, to include internal processes, and product audits.
KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Must be highly motivated to lead and not afraid to get hands dirty.
- Strong formal written and verbal communication skills necessary for business. presentations; both internal audiences and customers/suppliers.
- Must possess the ability to meet deadlines and be a self-starter.
- Must also possess knowledge in use of various computer software programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Highly organized; effective planner and LEADER.
- Ability to travel domestically to external customers for scheduled goodwill visits and for unscheduled quality concerns.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar is preferred but not required.
- Experience in Metal Forming, Welding & Paint is highly desired.
- Knowledge/Experience of AIAG/IATF beneficial but not required.
- Minimum 3-5 years quality management experience with 3 years experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Experience in developing processes and systems for product quality assurance.
WORKING CONDITIONS/OTHER:
- Work Hours/Status: Full-Time, Salary Exempt
- Travel Requirements: Domestically to external customers for scheduled goodwill visits and for unscheduled quality concerns.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment law, compliance, trends, new technologies and best practices in areas of responsibilities.
