Position Overview
Creo Farm School is seeking an experienced Science Teacher with STEM expertise to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for fostering scientific curiosity, integrating technology and engineering concepts, and creating an engaging, student-centered learning environment. Experience with Montessori methodologies is a bonus, as our approach emphasizes self-directed learning, inquiry, and hands-on engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging science curriculum that integrates STEM concepts, aligns with state and national standards, and incorporates hands-on, inquiry-based learning.
- Facilitate interdisciplinary project-based learning that connects science concepts to real-world applications, particularly in agriculture, sustainability, and environmental science.
- Incorporate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) principles into lessons using robotics, coding, makerspace activities, and engineering challenges.
- Use the farm environment as an outdoor laboratory, engaging students in applied scientific investigation, ecological studies, and agricultural science projects.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students, supporting both independent exploration and collaborative teamwork.
- Incorporate technology and digital tools to enhance student learning, data collection, and research-based projects.
- Foster a culture of curiosity, experimentation, and innovation, encouraging students to ask questions, explore hypotheses, and develop critical thinking skills.
- Integrate Montessori principles such as student choice, hands-on learning materials, and a prepared environment to support independent exploration.
- Assess and track student progress using both qualitative and quantitative measures, including performance-based assessments, portfolios, and STEM-based project evaluations.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary units, school-wide initiatives, and community partnerships that enhance STEM learning.
- Mentor and support students in STEM-related extracurricular activities, such as science fairs, robotics competitions, and environmental sustainability projects.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in STEM education, Montessori integration, and experiential learning methodologies.
- Support the school's mission and values by contributing to a positive, student-centered culture and participating in school-wide events, workshops, and initiatives.
