Duration : 12 months

Overview: Client is seeking a GIS Specialist contractor for a 12-month engagement. This hybrid role requires the candidate to work onsite in Raleigh and Garner as often as four days a week. The GIS Specialist will function as a senior-level resource with specialized knowledge in GIS technology, application development, and architecture, contributing to large and complex implementations and systems.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a GIS technical expert within the customer organization.
- Provide full-spectrum guidance on GIS data implementation strategies in coordination with the NCDOT GIS Unit.
- Develop GIS products based on current geospatial science standards and best practices.
- Analyze business requirements and propose GIS-based solutions.
- Design and implement GIS-based solutions using ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Dashboards, ArcGIS Instant Apps, and ArcGIS Experience Builder.
- Conduct GIS analysis using ArcGIS Pro and ModelBuilder.
- Utilize Python scripting and SQL to automate and enhance GIS workflows.
- Apply Arcade scripting for ArcGIS data visualizations and calculations.
- Ensure data quality through rigorous QA/QC processes and metadata documentation.
- Stay updated with the latest GIS software, particularly online visualization tools.
- Provide real-time data updates and dashboard modifications based on evolving requirements.
- Work extended hours as needed during emergency response situations.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5 years of hands-on experience with:
- ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Dashboards, ArcGIS Instant Apps, ArcGIS Experience Builder
- ArcGIS Pro for GIS analysis
- GIS data acquisition and spatial data modeling
- Ability to work onsite in Raleigh and Garner (3-4 days per week minimum).
- Willingness to work extended hours during high-pressure emergency responses.
Highly Desired Skills:
- Hands-on experience with ModelBuilder (5 years).
- Proficiency in Python programming (5 years).
- Demonstrated expertise in Arcade scripting for ArcGIS data visualization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong ability to communicate GIS principles and capabilities to non-GIS users.
- Experience in writing and maintaining metadata for geospatial outputs.
- Ability to work independently and provide solutions based on GIS capabilities.
