The R&D Manager leads product development efforts, production floor support, and product transfers between manufacturing sites. Focused on continuous process improvement, this role directs cross-functional teams to move products from development to manufacturing while ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.
R&D Manager Responsibilities:
- Develop, validate, and review procedures, protocols, and specifications for nutraceutical product development.
- Manage product transfers and pilot programs between facilities, providing production floor support and ensuring successful implementation of new products and processes.
- Direct cross-functional teams to execute product development projects, process improvements, and technical initiatives (e.g., enteric coating, compounding optimization, Lean Manufacturing).
- Oversee the approval of raw materials and pilot runs while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Plan, schedule, track, and update project timelines to ensure timely delivery and continuous improvement.
- Review and approve Master Manufacturing Records and related documentation to support product development initiatives.
- Participate in external events such as supplier and industry trade shows, and collaborate on special projects as assigned.
R&D Manager Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline.
- 5 years of broad technical experience with a minimum of 2 years in product development or technical services.
- At least 2 years in a managerial role overseeing technical personnel and complex projects within nutrition, food, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology environments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and multitasking skills, with strong problem-solving abilities and experience with weights and volumes.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook; ability to work independently in a fast-paced, shifting priority environment.
- Knowledge of FDA regulations related to the dietary supplement industry is a plus.
