Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate person to come on to our leadership team. We want a person with experience in the veterinary industry and a strong human resources skill set to come on board and earn the trust of our staff and to assist us growing our staff and clinic to meet our communities' needs. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for animals and a strong desire to effectively manage people with skill, reason and compassion and not by force. Our vision for this role is to help with overflow reception and/or assistant duties with the balance of time being hospital management in nature with the goal of elevating our clinic standards to meet our clients and patients needs as well as help our management team to direct our clinic to balance our staff needs with our clinic needs. Effective leadership will result in hospital growth and responsibilities for the candidate with commensurate raises and responsibilities. Responsibilities
- Direct and develop our human resources as well as work flows.
- Help with schedule and team/hospital development.
- Ensure cleanliness of the clinic, including kennels, exam rooms, and waiting areas. Cleaning when needed and/or directing others.
- Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, greeting clients, and managing patient flow.
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during high volume times with keeping examinations, surgeries, and procedures moving forward
- Provide basic nursing care to animals if able/needed
- Monitor animal behavior and health status, reporting any concerns to the veterinary staff.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation using veterinary terminology, focusing more on financial systems.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal husbandry practices and post-operative care.
- Above all else, honest, intelligent communication.
Experience
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work/lead effectively are essential.
- Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or in a similar role is preferred.
- Knowledge of animal physiology and veterinary terminology is advantageous.
- Experience in kennel management, hospital management and animal husbandry will be considered an asset.
- Must demonstrate ability to lead intelligently and have emotional intelligence.
