Position Summary

As a key member of the Engineered Solutions Group the Packaging Systems Engineer will design and implement engineered service solutions and processes designed to competitively meet our customers’ requirements while also meeting the need of the company and our people, thereby driving operational excellence and improvements.

The Packaging Systems Engineer will operate as outlined in the Crescent Way- 3 P’s:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Safety

  • Drive the Crescent Safety culture to ensure a Work Environment which is safe and maintained where our people can safely grow and develop.
  • Observe all plant layouts to ensure production can operate safely.
  • Ensure a preventive maintenance program is in place and complied with across all our sites.
  • Always consider Safety as the first priority in design, purchase and installation of Engineered Solutions
  • Continually seek out and remove all forms of risk.

Quality

  • Ensure Quality is built into the procurement of all new equipment, production floor and facility designs.
  • In partnership with Site GM’s and Maintenance personnel, drive Continuous Improvement making it foundational to our Culture.

Productivity

  • Continually explore the competitive use of technology and capital, providing Crescent and customers with flexibility and improved productivity.
  • Participate and lead as required plant/site design/layout/flow/equipment of new or existing plant/site operations with consideration to:
    • People, product and facility safety
    • Quickest flow and least amount of handling
    • Applicable building and fire codes
    • Ensure all facility layouts are current and all PM’s are current.
  • Ensure the transfer of all best practices across all site operations.
People

  • Provide technical leadership and direction to the Maintenance personnel at all sites
    • Participate in the selection of the best competent people to grow and be part of Crescent
    • Train – Establish training as a core value within Crescent.
    • Assess to ensure the fair and accurate evaluation of each person’s performance and potential.
    • Recognize to ensure each person feels appreciated for the value they provide.
  • Lead people to encourage maximum performance and dedication.
Customer Value

  • Drive Solutions which ensure Crescent is branded as an innovative service provider.
  • Ensure the completion of all required PM’s – Crescent and Customer owned equipment.
  • When designated, provide project management leadership, and communication with customers.

Financial

  • Responsible to specify, source and select cost effective capital equipment capable of improving our ability to deliver the highest quality and a competitive price.
  • Responsible to meet or exceed annual and project-based budget targets

All other duties as assigned, including but not limited to identifying and training an individual capable of successfully completing all stated Essential Duties and Responsibilities as appropriate to maintain integrity of position for progression planning and coverage during times of absence.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Engineering Degree
  • Multiyear experienced in the design and implementation of engineering-based projects
  • Multiyear experienced in packaging systems design and implementation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experienced and proven engineering and maintenance leader strongly desired
  • Lean manufacturing and/or continual process improvement experience
