Job Description
Based in Minnetonka, MN, the Staff Accountant prepares journal entries and account reconciliations, maintains fixed assets, supports accounts payable and accounts receivable, assists in preparing monthly consolidated financial statements, and provides ad-hoc financial analysis as needed. The position is in the finance department of a fast-growing investment management firm. The candidate must be extremely organized and detail oriented. The candidate must also be proactive and have the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively across functions. The candidate will work in an array of areas providing opportunity for advancement if desired. The role will report to the Director, Controller.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations
- Compile and organize supporting documents related to the monthly close
- Reconcile and eliminate intercompany accounts during the monthly consolidation
- Create quarterly inter-company and intra-company allocations and supporting packages for various fee settlements
- Assist with Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable: Processing, organizing, and maintaining database of invoices, invoice preparation, including billing, aging and expense analysis
- Maintain and update fixed assets and construction in progress
- Prepare application and forms requests for state, local, supplier, insurance etc.
- Monitor subscriptions and charitable contributions via spreadsheet and tracking expenses for utilization
- Assist in preparing quarterly and annual work papers for external auditor
- Reviewing, tracking, and processing state tax notices and tax payments
- Assist in providing and preparing tax schedules for outside tax preparers
- Document accounting policies, procedures and processes as needed
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- The candidate can be entry level and/or 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a financial services environment. Bachelor’s degree required; accounting degree highly desirable.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- General accounting knowledge, tax knowledge is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience with NetSuite, Bill.com, ADP, Expensify or similar systems a plus

Salary will be based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, licenses/certifications, industry knowledge, and geographic location.
