Job Summary
Plan, direct and coordinate Human Resources operations in support of Crest’s strategic objectives and Annual Business Plan. Plan and maintain systems and procedures for operating efficiency and effectiveness. Manage and develop staff for optimum business performance and personal growth. The position performs all day to day human resource and payroll functions and does not have any direct reports.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluate, recommend and implement programs and policies which have a positive impact on employee morale and productivity. Respond to employee policy and procedure questions, resolve complaints and/or counsel managers on effective conflict resolution.
- Ensure a competent workforce is in place to maintain performance, quality and production standards. Manage recruitment, hiring and retention of all employees working directly with applicable functional managers.
- Ensure compliance with all salary and benefit program guidelines. Promote benefit programs and respond to questions from employees. Develop and maintain current job descriptions. Participate in or conduct salary surveys and apply relevant findings and data. Counsel managers as needed on performance management and salary adjustment issues. Implement and manage payroll system and process.
- Implement training programs as identified through needs assessment and input from management and employees. Advise employees on advancement opportunities. Counsel managers on assessing development needs and evaluating training results.
- Recruit and interview hiring candidates in compliance with all government employment regulations including Affirmative Action and the ADA. Contact references, make recommendations to the hiring manager, extend job offers and conduct new employee orientations. Evaluate recruiting methods and make changes as needed to ensure effective recruiting.
- Maintain active participation in safety programs to promote awareness and decrease worker’s compensation claims. Conduct injury investigations and file First Report of Injury with insurance carrier. Manage loss time claims acting as liaison between the employee, physician, insurance carrier and the company to ensure expedient and successful resolution of claims. Monitor frequency and severity of claims and take appropriate action to control losses.
- Develop and manage a yearly departmental expense budget consistent with the strategic plan.
- Oversee quality standards of the department and track training for all employees in compliance with ISO procedures.
- Influence company strategic direction and ongoing successful operation as a member of Crest’s Leadership Team. Lead by example to influence positive performance and behavior throughout Crest and collaborate with peers to deliver exceptional results, not only for your department, but for the entire company.
Education and Experience
- BS/BA in applicable field and/or related experience.
- SPHR or similar industry qualification preferred.
- 3-5 years generalist experience.
- Advanced interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated ability to mediate conflict, familiarity with human resource related regulations.
