Position Overview
The Senior Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting the financial integrity and operational success of Cresten Capital and its portfolio assets. Reporting directly to the CFO, this individual will oversee key accounting functions, ensure the accuracy of financial records, and provide insights into the financial health of the company. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in real estate accounting, Multi-Entity Operations, financial reporting, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations and journal entries.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
- Collaborate with property management teams to ensure accurate property-level accounting.
- Prepare financial reports and presentations for executive leadership.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for various assets, including real estate and operational entities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations, tax codes, and internal policies.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to accounting staff.
- Assist and spearhead other projects / duties as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably within the real estate or asset management industry.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with multi-entity accounting and cash management preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Yardi or similar property management software preferred.
- Experience with NetSuite preferred.
