Supervising Teacher
This agreement is between Creston Community School District (CCSD) and the supervising teacher. This agreement outlines the terms and conditions of the Supervising Teacher and is not inclusive. A supervising teacher, also known as a cooperating teacher or mentor teacher, is an experienced educator who plays a critical role in the training and development of student teachers or novice educators. The primary responsibilities of a supervising teacher include :
- Guidance and Support : Providing guidance, advice, and support to student teachers or newly qualified teachers as they gain practical teaching experience.
- Observation and Evaluation : Observing the student teacher's classroom instruction, lesson planning, and classroom management techniques, and providing constructive feedback to help them improve their teaching skills.
- Modeling : Serving as a role model for effective teaching practices, demonstrating how to engage students, create a positive learning environment, and implement curriculum effectively.
- Collaboration : Collaborating with the student teacher to co-plan lessons, develop teaching materials, and address any challenges or concerns that arise during the teaching experience.
- Assessment : Participating in the assessment and evaluation of the student teacher's progress, often by providing input for their performance evaluations or internship assessments.
- Classroom Management : Offering insights and strategies for managing classroom behavior and fostering a positive learning atmosphere.
- Content Knowledge : Sharing expertise in the subject matter being taught and helping the student teacher develop a deeper understanding of the content.
