Job Responsibilities:
- Displays a positive attitude and commitment to customer service.
- Maintains regular, punctual attendance.
- Demonstrates professional phone etiquette and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Performs circulation tasks using the Integrated Library System (ILS), including checking materials in and out, searching the online catalog, collecting fees for lost or damaged items, and issuing library cards.
- Opens and closes the library according to established procedures.
- Records and organizes incoming magazines, newspapers, periodicals, and other materials.
- Manages patron holds including processing requests, tracking deliveries, preparing items for circulation, and notifying patrons.
- Prepares new materials for circulation by applying labels, barcodes, and protective coverings.
- Assists patrons with basic computer use, including email, Microsoft Office applications, social media, and internet navigation.
- Develops instructional materials and conducts training for patrons and staff on topics such as copier use, projectors, e-readers, tablets, and emerging technologies.
- Creates and distributes public information materials for social media and other platforms.
- Assists with marketing and community outreach efforts.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Holds a valid driver’s license and has reliable transportation.
- Basic computer proficiency, types a minimum of 30 words per minute, familiarity with Microsoft Office and internet navigation.
- Customer service experience preferred but not required.
- Library experience and familiarity with Integrated Library Systems (ILS) are a plus.
