Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting veterinarians in the diagnosis and treatment of animals, ensuring their health and well-being. While also being able to handle computer softwares and answering high demand telephone calls. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities. MUST BE LICENSED.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
- Perform diagnostic tests including X-rays and laboratory work.
- Administer medications and vaccinations as prescribed by veterinarians.
- Monitor animal patients during procedures and recovery.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
- Provide care for animals in the kennel, including feeding, bathing, and exercising.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal husbandry and care practices.
- Handle animals safely and effectively, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Utilize dental terminology to assist with dental cleanings and procedures.
- Support veterinary critical care by monitoring vital signs and administering treatments.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in veterinary settings is preferred; certification as a Veterinary Technician is a MUST.
- Knowledge of animal physiology and handling techniques.
- Proficiency in dental terminology related to veterinary practices.
- Experience with laboratory procedures relevant to veterinary medicine.
- Strong skills in dog and cat handling, ensuring safe interactions with various breeds.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
- Able to take direction.
- Flexible.
- Computer savvy.
- Handle calls efficiently.
- Abide by clinic guidelines.
- Able to pick up last minute shifts (if needed).
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with pet owners and team members.
