Crete Public Schools is seeking applications for High School Varsity Football Assistant Coach. Position starts with the 2025-2026 season, including preseason conditioning. This position follows the extra-duty salary schedule and terms found in the negotiated agreement. This position is considered open until filled.
Education Level and Certification:
- High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
- First Aid and CPR training required (may be obtained on the job and must be kept current)
- Must possess a motor vehicle operator’s license with a certificate to operate a school vehicle.
- Coaching experience preferred
- Ability to react well under pressure, handle and balance multiple demands at one time, work with frequent interruptions, and perform duties and tasks at expected levels of professionalism.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to establish trust and rapport with teachers and administrators.
- Successful completion of background check
Required Job Tasks:
- Oversee and manage the assigned team.
- Use good judgment to determine athlete participation during practices and games, including squad level and playing time.
- Positively promote the athletic program within the schools and the community.
- Assist in the selection and evaluation of assistant coaches.
- Coordinate with the Activities Director in planning and scheduling practices, announcements, competitions, and the like.
- Supervises locker rooms and playing areas during and following periods of team participation.
- Remains with students and supervises them when traveling to away events.
- Oversees and tends to injured athletes.
- Cares for and maintains equipment and annual inventories.
- Works closely with custodians in control at facilities.
- Serve as a role model to all students.
- Serve as a positive member of the community in a way that does not negatively affect the District’s reputation or image in the community.
- Refrain from engaging in conduct that interferes with the operations of the District, including the education of students.
- Develop and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with other staff and administration.
- Adhere to all District policies, rules, regulations, and supervisory directives.
- Maintain confidentiality of information concerning staff, students, and parents in accordance with law and District rules.
- Adhere to the code of ethics of the District and the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE Rule 27).
FLSA Status: Exempt
Professional exemption: The employee has a primary duty of performing work requiring knowledge of an advanced type in a field of science or learning customarily acquired by a prolonged course of specialized intellectual instruction and study or has a primary duty of teaching, tutoring, instructing, or lecturing in the activity of imparting knowledge and is employed and engaged in this activity as a teacher.
