Work Agreement : 260 days, 8 hours per day

Hourly Pay : Starts at $17.17 and is based on related experience

Crete Public Schools is seeking applications for an evening custodian to start immediately.

Daily hours are 3 pm to 11 pm. Non student and summer days are scheduled during daytime hours.

Benefits include 100% paid full family health insurance paid, long-term disability insurance, and sick and personal leave.

This position is flexible and can accommodate either full-time or part-time hours based on your availability. However, a preference is given to full-time availability.

This position is open until filled.

Essential Requirements :

High School Diploma or GED
Custodial experience preferred
Work well with co-workers and around children
First aid knowledge preferred
Successful completion of background check

Job Tasks :

Under the supervision of the Head Custodian the custodian cleans and maintains the school building and grounds, sets up equipment for special events, and assists school personnel with work requests.

Assist as directed with the following items :

Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.

Service, clean, and supply restrooms.

Gather and empty trash.

Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.

Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.

Clean equipment, such as glassware and metal instruments, using solvents, brushes, rags, and power cleaning equipment.

Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.

Steam-clean or shampoo carpets.

Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.

Follow safety procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.

Spray insecticides and fumigants to prevent insect and rodent infestation.

Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.

Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.

Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies.

Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets, meetings, assemblies, athletic events, and plays.

Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.

Notify supervisors concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.

Perform other tasks or duties as assigned by the Superintendent, Principal or Supervisor.

At-Will Position :

This position is an "at-will" position and may be terminated, with or without cause, at any time in the sole discretion of the Superintendent or Superintendent's designee.
