Summary
An Interior Logic Group (ILG) Design Consultant is responsible for selling the Company's interior product and services to customers. The Design Consultant's primary responsibility is outside sales visits to customer homes and trade shows. Although sales efforts and incidental activities may take place at a customer's home or through virtual channels, a Design Consultant will spend the majority of his or her working time traveling and away from a dedicated office environment. Design Consultants will travel to customer's homes to make sales calls, assess customer needs, make individually tailored product recommendations, develop, and negotiate customized price quotes, present warranty information and financial options that meet the customer's needs and maintain/drive profitability. The Design Consultant will also complete required sales contracts and paperwork and take measurements using industry standard methods to ensure orders meet required installation specifications.
Essential Functions
Assess customer’s needs, preferences, and expectations regarding their lifestyle and specific products for their new home
Advise customer’s on interior design factors, such as space planning, layout and color coordination
Provide complete product information detailing performance, durability, and maintenance of selections
Estimate material requirements and costs
Accurately record product selections using established department procedures, systems, and practices
Assists in resolving customer problems and/or concerns
Learn and is knowledgeable about all products in the showroom – attend all Product Knowledge (“PK') training
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
High School or equivalent
Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline. Interior Design Degree a plus
3-5 years of experience in related field; certification is required in some areas OR MS/MA.
Skills & Competencies
Excellent interpersonal/communication skills, detail-oriented, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word and Outlook)
Knowledge of all available products used by the company as it relates to product installation
Billing within service department-quotes prices, cost analysis and initiate billing
Communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and supervisors in a professional and courteous manner
Identifying reoccurring issues in production that lead to service items and work with production team to mitigate those items
Work with all departments within the company to minimize issues arising in service
Enjoys local travel and working independently in a fast-paced environment with a high sense of urgency
Excellent presentation and product advocacy skills
Strong customer service skills
Strong attention to detail
Ability to thrive in a sales environment
Ability to professionally present to customers and prospects
Ability to manage and maintain availability to support customer appointments and for prospecting new customers.
