The job

We are looking for a backend engineer to help secure, scale, and optimize our product. You will be primarily responsible for designing, developing, creating, maintaining and testing our API and server infrastructure. You will work closely with our founders and other team members, both technical and non-technical, to spearhead scalable, robust, and efficient features that power our data solutions.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to explore new technologies while pursuing a variety of technical initiatives. Experience in building notification systems and collaboration tools, or working with AI and voice-to-text integrations will be helpful, but also offer an opportunity for growth in the role. Experience with query optimization in Postgres and server/database management will be helpful. Your main tasks

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs
• Implement and maintain logging and analytics for product and performance monitoring
• Monitor and manage infrastructure, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security
• Automate deployment, monitoring, and maintenance processes to ensure system stability and performance.
• Work closely with the founding team to define technical strategy specifically as it relates to the companies backend infrastructure

Technical requirements

• 5 years experience in building software, ideally some of it in a startup/fast-paced environment
• Extensive knowledge of query performance best practices as it relates to load balancing, managing database compute and application server performance
• Extensive experience in backend development and database management, with experience in Postgres,Python,Typescript and frameworks such as Express.js
• Experience with managing databases (both with managed services or building database instances from scratch)
• Design, implement, and maintain scalable, automated infrastructure using infrastructure as code (IaC) tools
• Experience working with vector databases and/or previous experience with implementing efficient text search (Elasticsearch, OpenSearch)

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with client-server architecture and distributed systems
• Familiarity with data processing frameworks, big data technologies and query optimization
• Deep understanding of cloud architecture best practices and principles.
• Familiarity with AI processing models and tools (Audio-to-text transcription models like Whisper, Chat Completion models like GPT 4o, Sonnet etc, embedding models)
• Experience with implementing database design and management, particularly Postgres
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure management, including cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure), containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes)
• Solid experience with monitoring and logging tools (Datadog, New Relic, Splunk, or similar)
• Previous experience in a start-up or similar high-growth environment
• Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Nice to have’s/Bonus qualifications

• Prior experience with building/supporting applications in Fintech/research that use a RAG framework
• Hands-on experience integrating ML models into production environments and/or supporting NLP Data scientists
