The job

We are looking for a backend engineer to help secure, scale, and optimize our product. You will be primarily responsible for designing, developing, creating, maintaining and testing our API and server infrastructure. You will work closely with our founders and other team members, both technical and non-technical, to spearhead scalable, robust, and efficient features that power our data solutions.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to explore new technologies while pursuing a variety of technical initiatives. Experience in building notification systems and collaboration tools, or working with AI and voice-to-text integrations will be helpful, but also offer an opportunity for growth in the role. Experience with query optimization in Postgres and server/database management will be helpful. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the direction of our technology stack and influence the future of our product.

Your main tasks

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs
• Implement and maintain logging and analytics for product and performance monitoring
• Monitor and manage infrastructure, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback
• Work closely with the founding team to define technical strategy
• Troubleshoot and debug complex issues, ensuring high availability and performance
• Collaborate closely with the founding team to define product vision, prioritize features, and adhere to development schedules
• Establish coding, testing, and deployment standards to ensure software quality and reliability

Technical requirements

• 4 years experience in building software, ideally some of it in a startup/fast-paced environment
• Prior experience with building infrastructure to ingest and process large volumes of unstructured data (text, audio) and working with unstructured financial data (Earnings transcripts, News)
• Expertise in setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI
• Experience working with vector databases and/or previous experience with implementing efficient text search (Elasticsearch, OpenSearch)
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with client-server architecture and distributed systems
• Familiarity with data processing frameworks and big data technologies
• Familiarity with AI processing models and tools (Audio-to-text transcription models like Whisper, Chat Completion models like GPT 4o, Sonnet etc)
• Experience with implementing database design and management, particularly Postgres
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure management, including cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure), containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes)
• Previous experience in a start-up or similar high-growth environment
• Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Nice to have’s/Bonus qualifications

• Prior experience with building/supporting applications in Fintech/research that use a RAG framework
• Hands-on experience integrating ML models into production environments and/or supporting NLP Data scientists

What we offer

• Competitive compensation package with base salary between $145K - $180K per year, performance bonus and a significant equity stake in the company
• Incentive pay (bonus) based on your performance and the company’s performance
• Flexible paid time off in addition to paid holidays throughout the year
• Hybrid work arrangement (3 days in, 2 days out)
