Purpose:
The Office Equipment Service Technician will serve customers by identifying their needs and engineering adaptations of products, equipment, and services. This role involves repairing and maintaining office equipment, performing diagnostic tests, and maintaining parts and supplies inventory. The technician will also provide high levels of customer service and technical support via telephone, online, or in person.
Duties:
- Plan office equipment service work by studying service requests, planning, routing, and confirming service appointments.
- Maintain client rapport by greeting clints upon arrival and understanding support needs.
- Ensure service work does not disturb the daily activities of the organization.
- Set up equipment by delivering, unpacking, assembling, and completing diagnostics; obtain acceptance from the client.
- Install systems and products by ordering and delivering components, installing equipment, programming systems, and completing acceptance tests.
- Maintain office equipment parts and supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, and stocking items.
- Maintain equipment through proper testing and troubleshooting.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for all service department programs and manage service tickets.
- Determine causes of office equipment failure by attempting to operate equipment, observing functioning, conducting diagnostic tests using meters, signal generators, and researching engineering and service manuals.
- Complete preventive maintenance by cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting parts, assemblies, and components.
- Provide client support by providing training, responding to requests, and resolving problems both on-site and over the telephone.
- Document service actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
- Comply with regulations by adhering to codes, specifications, and rules.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
- Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
