What are the responsibilities and job description for the Peer Specialist position at CRF Behavioral Healthcare?
Hours: 40 hours per week; Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm; Wednesday, 11:00 am to 7:00 pm
Pay Rate: $21.00 to $23.00 per hour
Education: High School diploma/GED required
Certification: Certified Peer Support Specialist through CalMHSA preferred before hire; required within 90 days after hire date

As a Peer Specialist - Mobile Outreach, you will:
- Act as an ambassador to the program by welcoming, providing orientation, and engaging clients to the program.
- Utilize experience as a recipient of mental health services to enhance recovery and efforts of clients within the program.
- Promote and model the concept of recovery to program participants
- Serve as a member of the multidisciplinary team and share practical insight related to illness management, life skills, and the lifelong recovery process.
- Act as an advocate for the client when appropriate.
- Serve as part of the program's Mobile Outreach team, in conjunction with a clinical staff, to provide services to clients in the community when clinically appropriate.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
- At least one year of work experience
- Experience as a person who has received mental health services or has a close family member that has received mental health services required
- Previous experience working with the mental health population preferred
- Proficient computer skills, including MS Office
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- A valid California driver's license in good standing and eligibility to be an approved CRF driver is required to fulfill the essential functions of this position. In addition, proof of insurance is required prior to driving personal vehicles on company business.
- Ability to pass criminal/background clearance

Heartland Wellness Recovery Center is one of our Adult Outpatient programs (AOP), which provide behavioral health services including psychiatric and clinical assessment, treatment planning, ongoing medication services, individual and group counseling, case management, crisis intervention, mobile outreach, vocational support, and peer support. We deliver fully integrated services to adult clients diagnosed with a serious mental illness, as well as individuals with co-occurring, mental health, and substance use disorders.
All of our outpatient programs also provide full-time walk-in services. Our programs utilize evidence-based practices to assist our clients in reaching their goals and to live the highest quality of life while managing their mental illness.
