Position Overview
The Communications Intern will work for approximately 10-12 weeks at Pennsy Supply, Inc. to apply the education received from a college and/or university to the company’s objectives. The Intern will be exposed to a variety of lines of business and work environments during the internship. This position will involve travel to and between various quarries or work sites in Pennsy Supply’s Harrisburg, PA market region and may extend to sites in Northern PA and Delaware (limited).
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- You will support a wide variety of tasks gaining broad communications and marketing experience.
- Support communication and marketing requests from all lines of business.
- Assist Communications and Training Manager with the creation of content for social media platforms and mobile applications.
- Assist in the creation of employee recognition communications.
- Support the Community Giving Committee and program process.
- Create graphics for digital signage and advertisements.
- Complete special communication project throughout the summer as assigned by Communications and Training Manager
- Provide general support on projects and tasks as needed.
Education/Experience
- An incoming junior or senior pursuing a degree in English, Communication, Marketing, or other related area.
- 3.0 GPA or higher
- Demonstration of outstanding verbal and, written, communications skills and interpersonal.
- Ability to multi-task
- Great attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud or other design software, as well as Microsoft products including Word, Excel, Windows, PowerPoint, and Outlook
General Requirements
- Mobility to attend various meetings and events at offsite locations
- Must submit to a drug screen and criminal background check
- Ability to travel with a current driver’s license.
