Position Summary
The Sanitation Technician is responsible for diagnosing sanitation needs, methodically executing cleaning protocols, and optimizing sterilizing processes.
Position Responsibilities
- Perform specialized diagnosis of cleaning and sanitization needs and gaps production equipment, tools, and facility surfaces according to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Identify potential sanitation concerns, diagnose contamination risks, and implement corrective actions to maintain a hygienic production environment.
- Execute thorough cleaning, sterilization, and maintenance procedures for all equipment within the Pouch department to ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
- Conduct pre-operational inspections to verify the filling equipment has been cleaned and sanitized properly.
- Assist in identifying potential equipment issues related to sanitation and collaborate with maintenance teams for timely resolution.
- Follow sanitation schedules to ensure all areas are cleaned and disinfected per company and regulatory requirements.
- Continuously evaluate and improve sanitation procedures, leveraging industry best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Essential Skills and Experience
- Detailed prior experience working with the machinery and equipment in Pouch.
- Ability to troubleshoot and address pre-op issues.
- Previous experience in sanitation, janitorial work, or food manufacturing is preferred but not required. Training will be provided.
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Basic understanding of sanitation practices and safety regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
- Must be able to follow directions and perform manual labor.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and overtime as needed based on production schedules.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Able to walk and stand, use arms and legs for long periods of time including wrist turning and finger manipulation.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in cold/wet environments.
- Employee stands frequently with tasks requiring consistent bending, stooping, kneeling, or crawling to complete; Lift, carry and push/pull occasionally of up to 50 pounds is required.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to extreme temperature conditions.
- Job locations can be consistently 40 degrees or below.
- The noise levels at work are moderate to loud and hearing protection is required.
